তিব্বতে অবস্থিত কৈলাস একটা রহস্যময় পর্বত। এর উচ্চতা মাত্র ৬,৬৩৮ মিটার হলেও আজও মানুষের কাছে অজেয়। বিভিন্ন ধর্মের কাছে এটি একটি পবিত্র পর্বত।

1. দ্রুত চুল-নখ বৃদ্ধি: কৈলাসে চুল ও নখ অস্বাভাবিক দ্রুত বাড়ে—এমন দাবি প্রচলিত; উচ্চতা, UV ও অক্সিজেনের স্বল্পতাকে সম্ভাব্য কারণ বলা হয়।

2. সময় ও দিকভ্রম: পর্যটকদের কেউ কেউ সময়ের অনুভূতি বদলে যাওয়া এবং কম্পাসে বিভ্রাটের দাবি করেন।

3. রহস্যময় আলো ও শব্দ: কৈলাস-মানসরোবর এলাকায় অদ্ভুত আলো এবং “ওঁ” বা ডমরুর মতো শব্দ শোনার দাবি রয়েছে।

4. দুই হ্রদের বৈপরীত্য: মানসরোবর স্বাদু ও শান্ত, আর রাক্ষসতাল লোনা ও উত্তাল—এই বৈপরীত্য রহস্যকে আরও বাড়িয়েছে।

5. পিরামিড তত্ত্ব: রাশিয়ান গবেষক ড. এর্নেস্ট মুলদাশিফসহ কয়েকজন বিজ্ঞানীর দাবি, কৈলাস একটি প্রাচীন বিশাল পিরামিড; তবে মূলধারার বিজ্ঞান এটি স্বীকার করে না।

• ধর্মীয় পবিত্রতা: হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ, জৈন ও বন ধর্মে কৈলাস অত্যন্ত পবিত্র; তাই আরোহণ নিষিদ্ধ বলে বিশ্বাস করা হয়।

• আইনি নিষেধাজ্ঞা: চীন সরকার কৈলাসে পর্বতারোহণ নিষিদ্ধ করেছে।

• দুর্গম প্রকৃতি: খাড়া গঠন, উচ্চতা ও কঠিন আবহাওয়ার কারণে এটি অত্যন্ত ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ।

1. Rapid growth of hair and nails: It is widely claimed that hair and nails grow at an unusually rapid rate on Mount Kailash; altitude, UV radiation, and low oxygen levels are cited as possible causes.

3. Mysterious light and sound: There are claims of strange lights and sounds resembling "Om" or the beat of a *damaru* (small drum) in the Kailash-Mansarovar region.

• Inaccessible nature: It is extremely hazardous due to its steep structure, high altitude, and harsh weather conditions.
