আর্গালি (Argali) হলো এক বিশেষ প্রজাতির বুনো ভেড়া যার শিং তার নিজের মৃত্যুর কারণ হতে পারে।

আর্গালি ভেড়া (Argali Ram): মধ্য এশিয়ার পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলে এই বুনো ভেড়াগুলো দেখা যায়। এদের শিংগুলো আজীবন বড় হতে থাকে এবং বাইরের দিকে গোল হয়ে বেঁকে যায়। কিন্তু কোনো কোনো আর্গালির হরমোনজনিত সমস্যা বা জিনগত ত্রুটির কারণে শিং স্বাভাবিকভাবে বাইরের দিকে না বেঁকে ভেতরের দিকে বা নিচের দিকে গোল হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকে। বয়স বাড়ার সাথে সাথে এই শিংটি একপর্যায়ে তাদের নিজেদেরই চোখ, চোয়াল বা মাথার খুলি ফুঁড়ে ভেতরের দিকে ঢুকতে শুরু করে। সময়মতো শিংটি কোথাও ঘষে ক্ষয় করতে না পারলে বা ভেঙে না গেলে এটি সরাসরি মগজে আঘাত করে এবং ব্যথায় বা ইনফেকশনে প্রাণীটি মারা যায়।

Argali Ram: These wild sheep are found in the mountainous regions of Central Asia. Their horns continue to grow throughout their lives, curving outwards in a spiral. However, due to hormonal imbalances or genetic defects, the horns of some Argali do not curve outwards normally; instead, they curl inwards or downwards.

As the animal ages, this horn eventually begins to grow inward, piercing its own eye, jaw, or skull. If the horn is not worn down by rubbing against something or broken off in time, it strikes the brain directly, causing the animal to die from pain or infection.
