রিচাট স্ট্রাকচার বা সাহারার চোখ (মৌরিতানিয়া)  

রিচাট স্ট্রাকচার (Eye of the Sahara) মৌরিতানিয়ার সাহারা মরুভূমিতে অবস্থিত এক বিস্ময়কর ভূপ্রাকৃতিক গঠন। এটি দেখতে বিশাল চোখ বা Bullseye-এর মতো এবং মহাকাশ থেকেও স্পষ্ট দেখা যায়।

• অবস্থান: মৌরিতানিয়ার আদ্রার মালভূমিতে, উয়াদানে শহরের কাছে।

• আকার: এর বাইরের বলয়ের ব্যাস প্রায় ৪০–৪৫ কিলোমিটার।

• সৃষ্টি: একসময় এটিকে উল্কাপিণ্ডের আঘাতে তৈরি গহ্বর মনে করা হলেও, বর্তমানে বিজ্ঞানীরা মনে করেন এটি একটি ক্ষয়প্রাপ্ত ভূতাত্ত্বিক গম্বুজ। ভূগর্ভস্থ ম্যাগমার উত্থানে শিলাস্তর বাঁকানোর পর দীর্ঘদিনের বাতাস ও পানির ক্ষয়ে এর বৃত্তাকার বলয়গুলো তৈরি হয়েছে।

The Richat Structure or Eye of the Sahara (Mauritania)

The Richat Structure (Eye of the Sahara) is a remarkable geological formation located in the Sahara Desert of Mauritania. It resembles a giant eye or a bullseye and is clearly visible even from space.

• Location: On the Adrar Plateau in Mauritania, near the town of Ouadane.

• Size: The diameter of its outer ring is approximately 40–45 kilometers.

• Formation: Although it was once thought to be an impact crater caused by a meteorite, scientists now believe it to be an eroded geological dome. Its circular rings were formed by the erosion caused by wind and water over a long period, following the warping of rock layers due to the upwelling of subsurface magma.
