আমাজন রেইনফরেস্ট- যাকে বলা হয় "পৃথিবীর ফুসফুস" 

আমাজন রেইনফরেস্ট হলো বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম এবং সবচেয়ে বৈচিত্র্যময় ক্রান্তীয় রেইনফরেস্ট (অনাবৃষ্টি অরণ্য), যা দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা মহাদেশের আমাজন অববাহিকায় অবস্থিত। এটি পৃথিবীর মোট অক্সিজেনের একটি বিশাল অংশ সরবরাহ করে এবং বৈশ্বিক জলবায়ু নিয়ন্ত্রণে অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে, যার কারণে একে প্রায়শই "পৃথিবীর ফুসফুস" (Lungs of the Earth) বলা হয়।

নিচে আমাজন রেইনফরেস্টের মূল বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলো সংক্ষেপে তুলে ধরা হলো:

ভৌগোলিক বিস্তার ও আয়তন

• আয়তন: এটি প্রায় ৫৫ লক্ষ বর্গ কিলোমিটার (৫৫,০০,০০০ বর্গ কিমি) এলাকা জুড়ে বিস্তৃত।

• দেশসমূহ: আমাজন বন মোট ৯টি দেশের সীমানা স্পর্শ করেছে। এর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বড় অংশ (প্রায় ৬০%) রয়েছে ব্রাজিলে। বাকি অংশ পেরু, কলম্বিয়া, ভেনিজুয়েলা, ইকুয়েডর, বলিভিয়া, গায়ানা, সুরিনাম এবং ফরাসি গায়ানায় অবস্থিত।

জীববৈচিত্র্য (Biodiversity)

আমাজন রেইনফরেস্ট পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে সমৃদ্ধ জীববৈচিত্র্যের আবাসস্থল। এখানে রয়েছে:

• প্রায় ৪০,০০০ প্রজাতির উদ্ভিদ।

• ১৬,০০০ প্রজাতির গাছ।

• প্রায় ৩,০০০ প্রজাতির মাছ (যার মধ্যে হিংস্র পিরানহা অন্যতম)।

• ১,৩০০ প্রজাতির পাখি এবং হাজারো প্রজাতির স্তন্যপায়ী, সরীসৃপ ও উভচর প্রাণী (যেমন: জাগুয়ার, অ্যানাকোন্ডা, ও গোলাপি ডলফিন)।

আমাজন নদী

এই বনের বুক চিরে বয়ে গেছে বিখ্যাত আমাজন নদী। জলপ্রবাহের দিক থেকে এটি বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম নদী এবং দৈর্ঘ্যের দিক থেকে দ্বিতীয় দীর্ঘতম। এই নদী ও এর শত শত উপনদী পুরো বনের পানির প্রধান উৎস।

The Amazon Rainforest is the world’s largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest, located in the Amazon Basin of South America. Because of its important role in regulating the global climate, it is often called the “Lungs of the Earth.”

🌎 Geographic Extent

• Covers approximately 5.5 million square kilometers.

• Spans 9 countries, with about 60% located in Brazil.

• The remaining areas are in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, and other neighboring territories.

🦜 Extraordinary Biodiversity

• Home to around 40,000 plant species and 16,000 tree species.

• Contains approximately 3,000 fish species and 1,300 bird species.

• Provides habitat for countless animals, including jaguars, anacondas, and pink river dolphins.

🌊 The Amazon River
The Amazon River is the rainforest’s main waterway. It is the world’s largest river by water discharge and one of the longest rivers in the world by length. Its hundreds of tributaries support the vast water system of the Amazon Basin.
