আসুন একটু জানি (পর্ব-২৯) / Let's Learn Something (Episode-29)ঃ পাহাড় (Hill) ও পর্বত (Mountain)-এর মধ্যে পার্থক্য/Difference Between Hills and Mountains

Difference Between Hills and Mountains

The primary differences between hills and mountains lie in their height, size, and structural characteristics. Generally, elevated land less than 600 meters (2,000 feet) high is classified as a hill, while land that is higher and more extensive is classified as a mountain.

Height: Hills are generally less than 600 meters high, whereas mountains usually exceed 600 meters.

Size and Extent: Hills are relatively small and cover a limited area; mountains are large and span long chains or vast regions.

Slopes and Peaks: Hills have gentle slopes and rounded peaks, while mountains have steep, rugged slopes and sharp, distinct peaks.

Weather: The weather at the summit of a hill is similar to that of the surrounding plains. Due to the altitude, the weather at the summit is extremely cold and harsh.
