পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে দ্রুতগতির পাখি পেরেগ্রিন ফ্যালকন (Peregrine Falcon)। আকাশে শিকার ধরার সময় এটি ঘণ্টায় ৩২০ কিলোমিটারের বেশি গতিতে নিচে নেমে আসতে পারে।

 সুইফট পাখি অনুভূমিক উড্ডয়নে দ্রুততম হলেও সর্বোচ্চ গতিতে পেরেগ্রিন ফ্যালকনের ধারেকাছেও থাকে না।

তুলনা

• পেরেগ্রিন ফ্যালকন:

• সর্বোচ্চ গতি: ঘণ্টায় প্রায় ৩২২ থেকে ৩৯০ কিলোমিটার (ডাইভ বা ছোঁ মারার সময়)।

• বিশেষত্ব: আকাশ থেকে নিচে নামার সময় এটি বিশ্বের দ্রুততম প্রাণী।

• সুইফট বার্ড (সাদা-সুঁচলো ডানাযুক্ত সুইফট):

• সর্বোচ্চ গতি: অনুভূমিকভাবে ওড়ার সময় ঘণ্টায় প্রায় ১১১ থেকে ১৬৯ কিলোমিটার।

• বিশেষত্ব: একটানা স্বাভাবিক উড্ডয়নে এটি অন্যতম দ্রুতগতির পাখি।

The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird in the world. When hunting in mid-air, it can dive at speeds exceeding 320 kilometers per hour.

Although the swift is the fastest in level flight, it does not even come close to the Peregrine Falcon in terms of top speed.

• Peregrine Falcon:

                      Top speed: Approximately 322 to 390 km/h (during a dive or   

                                           stoop).

                      Distinction: It is the fastest animal in the world when 

                                           descending from the sky.

• Swift (White-throated Needletail):

                 Top speed: Approximately 111 to 169 km/h during level flight.

                     Distinction: It is one of the fastest birds in continuous, sustained flight.
