চকলেট পাহাড় — শত শত প্রায় একই আকৃতির রহস্যময় পাহাড়।

                                          

• ফিলিপাইনের বোহোল দ্বীপে অবস্থিত চকলেট পাহাড় প্রায় ১,২৬০–১,৭৭৬টি প্রায় একই আকৃতির শঙ্কু-আকৃতির পাহাড়ের সমষ্টি। প্রতিটি পাহাড়ের উচ্চতা সাধারণত ৩০–৫০ মিটার।

• শুষ্ক মৌসুমে ঘাস শুকিয়ে পাহাড়গুলো গাঢ় বাদামী রঙ ধারণ করে, ফলে দূর থেকে দেখতে বিশাল চকলেটের স্তূপের মতো লাগে—এ কারণেই এর নাম চকলেট পাহাড়।

• বিজ্ঞানীদের মতে, লক্ষ লক্ষ বছর আগে সমুদ্রের নিচে থাকা চুনাপাথর (Limestone) বৃষ্টি ও প্রাকৃতিক ক্ষয়ের মাধ্যমে ধীরে ধীরে এই পাহাড়গুলোর সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। এ ধরনের ভূ-গঠনকে কার্স্ট টপোগ্রাফি (Karst Topography) বলা হয়।

• বর্তমানে এটি ফিলিপাইনের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন আকর্ষণ এবং প্রকৃতির এক অসাধারণ বিস্ময়।

Chocolate Hills - Hundreds of mysterious hills of almost identical shape.

• The Chocolate Hills, located on the island of Bohol in the Philippines, consist of approximately 1,260 to 1,776 cone-shaped hills of roughly uniform shape. Each hill generally ranges in height from 30 to 50 meters.

• During the dry season, the grass withers and the hills turn a deep brown, making them look like massive piles of chocolate from a distance—which is why they are named the Chocolate Hills.

• According to scientists, these hills were gradually formed over millions of years from limestone deposits on the ocean floor through the processes of rainfall and natural erosion. This type of geological formation is known as Karst topography.

• Today, it is one of the Philippines' most popular tourist attractions and a remarkable natural wonder.
