বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে দীর্ঘ বা লম্বা গলার উপজাতি হিসেবে পরিচিত। তারা মূলত মিয়ানমারের (বার্মা) কায়াহ রাজ্যের শান মালভূমি অঞ্চলে বাস করে । তবে রাজনৈতিক অস্থিরতা এবং নির্যাতনের শিকার হয়ে এদের একটি বড় অংশ বর্তমানে উত্তর থাইল্যান্ডের সীমান্তবর্তী পাহাড়ি গ্রামগুলোতে শরণার্থী হিসেবে বসবাস করছে।

এই উপজাতির নারীরা ছোটবেলা থেকেই (সাধারণত ৫ বছর বয়স থেকে) তাদের গলায় ভারী পিতলের তৈরি বিশেষ কুণ্ডলী বা আংটি পরা শুরু করে। বয়স বাড়ার সাথে সাথে এই আংটির সংখ্যা এবং ওজনও বাড়ানো হয়, যা প্রায় ৫ থেকে ১০ কেজি পর্যন্ত হতে পারে।

They are known as the tribe with the longest necks in the world. They primarily inhabit the Shan Plateau region of Kayah State in Myanmar (Burma). However, due to political instability and persecution, a large number of them now live as refugees in mountainous villages along the border in northern Thailand.

Women of this tribe begin wearing special heavy brass coils or rings around their necks from an early age (usually starting at five). As they grow older, the number and weight of these rings are increased, eventually reaching between 5 and 10 kilograms.
