How much heat is produced during an atomic bomb explosion?
Well, think about it, water boils at a temperature of 100° Celsius and turns into steam. The temperature at the center of the sun is 15 million degrees Celsius. Imagine the temperature there of 100 million degrees Celsius!!
As terrifying as the explosion of an atomic bomb is, its temperature calculation is equally incredible. When a nuclear bomb explodes, the temperature at its center or the epicenter of the explosion (Ground Zero) reaches about 100 million degrees Celsius in an instant.
This extreme temperature lasts for a few nanoseconds (a billionth of a second) at the very beginning of the explosion. The energy then quickly spreads into the surrounding air, creating a huge fireball.
Within 0.1 to 1 second of the explosion, the surface temperature of the fireball begins to drop rapidly (to about 7,000–8,000 degrees Celsius), but this heat is enough to burn objects or people several kilometers away in the form of radiation for a few seconds.
Hotter than the Sun: The temperature at the center of the Sun is about 15 million degrees Celsius. That is, at the moment of the explosion, that place becomes about 7 times hotter than the center of the Sun.
Fireball: A giant fireball is formed within a few microseconds of the explosion. Even the surface temperature of this ball is much higher than the surface temperature of the Sun.
Everything vaporizes: In this intense heat, iron, stone, and even concrete around the explosion site instantly turn into liquid or vapor. This incredible heat is created mainly due to the release of a huge amount of energy in a very short time in the process of nuclear fission (splitting of atoms).
